Stability induced by “no-quibbling”

We demonstrate the important consequence of one particular type of voter behavior: the “differentiation” (“no-quibbling”) constraint that alternatives too similar to the alternative which they might replace will not be considered. We find that imposition of a sufficient differentiation norm leads to stable outcomes of decision making in a spatial context. We also briefly consider the potential effects of other possible constraints on feasible choices, especially as these might synergistically interact with choices based on “no-quibbling.”

Abstract

The present paper proposes and investigates a procedure for numerical evaluation of the transition probabilities for a time-inhomogeneous Markov process when the intensities are known (estimated). The procedure is based on Taylor-expansion of the transition probabilities linked with the Chapman-Kolmogorov equations.

综合客运枢纽是经济社会发展到高级阶段的产物，对综合化水平提出了更高要求。在分析综合客运枢纽圈层形态基础上，认为规范标准体系是一系列技术性、政策性和制度性文件的综合反映，承担了法律规范、规划体制、技术标准等综合功能。在总结境内外经验基础上，认为我国综合客运枢纽规范标准需要考虑10大基准元素，构建出由60个指标构成的框架性体系。     

Multivariate Hill Estimators

We propose two classes of semi‐parametric estimators for the tail index of a regular varying elliptical random vector. The first one is based on the distance between a tail probability contour and the observations outside this contour. We denote it as the class of separating estimators. The second one is based on the norm of an arbitrary order. We denote it as the class of angular estimators. We show the asymptotic properties and the finite sample performances of both classes. We also illustrate the separating estimators with an empirical application to 21 worldwide financial market indexes.     

Gender and culture: do they matter for norms?

In a natural experiment, we observed that the influence of a norm depended upon the gender and cultural background of participants. Both gender and cultural background contributed to the effect of peer pressure that partly controlled against the act of cheating among participants as they completed a group task. Furthermore, both factors served to describe the characteristics of hardworking individuals in the group. We therefore conclude that the effectiveness of a norm in a group is expected to depend upon the presence of hardworking individuals therein.

市场经济是以理性化为特征的信用经济或法治经济,需要以自由、平等、信用和契约为基础建立一种普遍性的交换关系。目前,我国正处在经济体制转轨时期,市场规则和市场秩序尚不健全,离开道德主体人格的塑造,离开政府信用与企业信用关系的良性互动,构建和谐社会只能是一句空话。为了切实发挥道德的调节功能,不仅要在全社会范围内建立符合社会主义核心价值体系内在要求的道德规范,还要提高政府的公共管理水平和社会参与者的整体素质。只有这样,才能发挥伦理道德这种“支持性资源”的支撑作用,促进我国社会经济的又好又快发展。     

A Phenomenological Approach to Inquiring into an Ethically Bankrupted Organization: A Case Study of a Japanese Company

This study introduced a phenomenological approach to the study of the companies that committed corporate crimes. The author first developed the epistemology of normative control which is based on the philosophical ground of phenomenology, sociology of knowledge, ethnomethodology, Habermas's normative theories, and Foucault's normalizing discourse in the context of organizations. He, then, showed the procedures for conducting a qualitative and phenomenological empirical case study of an aggressive Japanese company whose name appeared in the media for its scandal in Tokyo. The inquiry revealed the generative mechanism of normative control and the patterns of constructing social reality of workplaces in a Japanese company.For the sabbatical period August 1999–August 2000:

Clifford P-复函的Cauchy公式

利用复变函数论的方法，研究了Clifford P-函数的积分问题，在一种广义范数条件下，得到了平面抛物复函的Cauchy公式与解析函数的各阶导数公式以及它们的某些直接结果。
